Aneurysm Signs & Symptoms

People with unruptured brain aneurysms may have no symptoms or may experience headaches or localized pain.

If the aneurysm gets very large or ruptures, it may cause patients to experience:

  • Sudden, severe headache that can last for a day or longer
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Neck stiffness
  • Light sensitivity, double vision or speech problems
  • Weakness or paralysis of an arm or leg
  • Seizures

If you or a loved one is exhibiting signs of an aneurysm, call 911 or visit an emergency room immediately. Patients that receive immediate treatment are much more likely to make a full recovery. Treatments can significantly improve recovery and can, in some cases, greatly reduce or eliminate the harmful effects of an aneurysm.
