Morton Plant Mease Health Care Connects with CarePages

Free, Personalized Web Page Service Now Offered for Patients, Family Members, Friends

CLEARWATER, Fla., (September 13, 2006) - Whether it’s a greeting of congratulations for the birth of a baby or a message of hope for a patient battling a disease - staying in touch with family and friends is important when someone is in the hospital. Morton Plant Mease Health Care and its four hospitals – Morton Plant in Clearwater, Mease Countryside in Safety Harbor, Mease Dunedin and Morton Plant North Bay in New Port Richey – are now helping families stay connected by offering CarePages. The free service is a virtual gathering place that allows patients, family members or friends to create a personalized, private Web page where they can post medical updates, dozens of photos and messages of support.

“We are committed to making the patient experience at our hospitals as comfortable and supportive as possible. CarePages allow families and friends to privately communicate medical care about a loved one, or post an uplifting message of encouragement wherever they have access to the internet including at any of our hospitals,” said Philip K. Beauchamp, FACHE, president and chief executive officer, Morton Plant Mease.

Morton Plant Mease Health Care recently installed high-speed wireless Internet access, also commonly known as Wi-Fi, throughout its hospitals including in patient rooms. Together, WiFi and CarePages allow families to connect over distance and time while remaining at a patient’s bedside. CarePages also include links to Morton Plant Mease health information such as services and medical articles. E-mails called “CareCompliments” - personal messages to medical staff complimenting them on the care they provide – are also an option.

The privacy of information posted on CarePages is protected with security features that include a username and password, and the ability to restrict access to a page to only those who are invited via e-mail. Creating a CarePage can be done by going to and simply clicking on the CarePage icon. There is no charge to create and maintain a page. The page remains active indefinitely provided information is updated within three months.

Nationally recognized for health care excellence, Morton Plant Mease Health Care is dedicated to providing community owned health care services that set the standard for high-quality, compassionate care. Morton Plant Mease Health Care is comprised of the following hospitals – Morton Plant, Clearwater; Mease Dunedin, Dunedin; Mease Countryside, Safety Harbor and Morton Plant North Bay, New Port Richey.
