Morton Plant Brings Immediate Care to West Pasco County
01/06/2005

HUDSON, Fla., (December 11, 2002) -To provide improved access to urgent medical care in Pasco County, the Morton Plant Immediate Care Center opened Monday, December 9, 2002. Intended for patients experiencing minor injuries and illness, the immediate care center will have office hours seven days a week. Appointments are not necessary.

"We saw that there was a need in the community for after-hours and weekend care of minor illnesses and injuries," said William M. Jennings, administrator and chief operating officer, North Bay Hospital. "Sprains, strains, flu, ear infections - these are the types of conditions we are set up to treat. The immediate care center gives patients with minor ailments a lower-cost alternative to the emergency room. We anticipate that the wait times for our patients will be significantly less than those of a hospital emergency room."

The $1,100,000, 3,500 square-foot center will have three board-certified physicians on staff. On-site radiology and selected laboratory services will facilitate diagnosis. "This is truly a win-win for the patient and physician. Patients can receive immediate care without an appointment during weekend and off-hours more cost effectively than in the emergency room and physicians can have a ready resource to refer a patient with an urgent medical problem," said Jennings. The Morton Plant Immediate Care Center also offers care for work-related injuries and provides physicals and drug screenings.

Located in Hudson at 14102 U.S. 19 North, the Morton Plant Immediate Care Center is owned by Morton Plant Hospital Association, Inc. which includes North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey and the Trinity Outpatient and Surgery Center in Trinity. The Morton Plant Immediate Care Center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Most major insurance plans are accepted.
