Morton Plant Hospital Named to 100 Top Overall Hospitals List|
CLEARWATER, Fla. (March 6, 2003)---Morton Plant Hospital has been named to Solucient's 100 Top Overall list. The prestigious study, titled "100 Top Hospitals National Benchmarks for Success" ranks acute care hospitals across the United States for quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance, and adaptation in environment.

Solucient's 100 Top Overall Hospitals study identifies hospitals for superior performance and establishing national benchmarks for patient care and operations. Facilities were scored according to key measures such as risk-adjusted mortality and risk-adjusted complications, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, percent of outpatient revenue, total asset turnover and data quality.
Hospitals were ranked using detailed empirical performance data from 1999 and 2000, including publicly available Medicare MEDPAR data and Medicare cost reports. The 100 Top Hospitals study grouped winners into five separate categories - major teaching, teaching, large community, medium community and small community.
Morton Plant Hospital is in the "large community hospital" category of Solucient's Top 100 Overall list.
