2011 Press Releases
Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Breaks Ground For New Surgical Center
12/02/2011

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., (December 2, 2011)-- Morton Plant North Bay Hospital continues expansion plans with its planned surgical center to offer patients advanced surgical procedures. Hospital administrators and community leaders will be on hand for a groundbreaking ceremony on December 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. The new surgical center is planned to expand from four to six new operating suites and two new endoscopy/ procedure suites. The new operating suites will measure up to 675 square feet, replacing the current 350-500 sq. ft. operating rooms.

“With larger operating rooms, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital will be able to accommodate advanced surgeries for less invasive procedures. “More and more surgeries are minimally invasive which can lead to a faster recovery time for patients,” said Hal Ziecheck, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital chief operating officer. “We continue to be committed to the health of all of West Pasco, so it’s important for us to expand our services to meet the health care needs of our community.” The new surgery center is expected to open in early 2013.

Morton Plant North Bay Hospital has been remodeling the campus recently. A new 9,750 square-foot cardiovascular center that provides the most advanced imaging equipment for cardiac care diagnostics and interventions, including elective and emergency heart catheterizations and angioplasties, just opened in September.

The 56,000 square-foot, four-story Starkey Medical Tower opened in 2010 with all private patient rooms, a newer intensive care unit, medical surgical unit, new respiratory care services and community education services opened last year along with the 45,000 square-foot, three-story Medical Arts Building that features an expanded sleep disorders center, outpatient lab facility and rehabilitation services.
