Mease Countryside Sets New Annual Record for Babies Delivered at Hospital

2011 Babies Born in 2011

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla., (December 30, 2011) -- Mease Countryside Hospital’s labor and delivery unit were extra busy in 2011 and set a new hospital record for babies born in one year. Mease Countryside welcomed more than 2,000 babies delivered at the hospital, exceeding the past average of 1,800 per year. The hospital delivered the 2011th baby as of this morning, making it 2011 babies in 2011.

“Our labor and delivery team were so excited to exceed 2,000 babies delivered and set a new hospital record with actually 2011 babies delivered in 2011,” said Linda Bando, labor and delivery nurse manager. “We are thrilled that we had the opportunities to be part of, and work with, more parents-to-be in the community to help grow their families this year.”

Mease Countryside Hospital received “Baby-Friendly” status by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Care Award from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) in 2011. In order to achieve “Baby-Friendly” designation and Care Award, the hospital demonstrated its ability to offer breastfeeding mothers the information, skills and support needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.

Mease Countryside Hospital offers complimentary postnatal massages to help reduce stress, fatigue, backaches, headaches, postpartum depression and reduce fluid retention for new moms, a wide array of support groups and Baby Boot Camp, a fitness class to help new moms get back into shape after having a baby.
