Morton Plant and Mease Countryside Hospitals Named on Thomson Reuters 100 Top U.S. Hospitals Study|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (April 16, 2012) – Morton Plant Mease Health Care’s Mease Countryside and Morton Plant Hospitals, have both been nationally recognized on 2012’s Thomson Reuters 100 Top U.S. Hospitals study based on overall organizational performance. Mease Countryside Hospital is recognized on the “large community hospital” list and Morton Plant Hospital makes the “teaching hospital” list.
“This recognition is a reflection of the commitment and hard work by our teams of physicians, nurses and volunteers at our hospitals to provide quality care to our patients,” said Glenn Waters, Morton Plant Mease president. “We are pleased to make the national study list once again and continue to do our best for our patients of our communities.”
The Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals® study evaluates performance in 10 areas: mortality; medical complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; post-discharge mortality; and readmission rates for acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, and pneumonia. The study has been conducted annually since 1993.
To conduct the 100 Top Hospitals study, Thomson Reuters researchers evaluated 2,886 short-term, acute-care, non-federal hospitals and is based on data such as core measures, patient satisfaction data, Medicare cost reports, provider analysis and Review (MedPaR) data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website. Hospitals do not apply or pay a fee for this recognition.
